Heat 1 (8 Laps). Boles, 2. Toews, 3. Wolfgang, 4. Heser, 5. Wan Wyhe

Although light on cars this was one of the best races for the lead we have seen all season.  Billy "Buckle Up" Boles, was working on his 5th Jackson Speedway Championship, and entered the race just 7 points ahead of the red hot Mark Toews.  At the drop of the green flag, Billy Buckle Up bolted to the lead followed closely by Robby Wolfgang, son of former Champion Doug Wolfgang.  The two engaged in a great battle for all 20 laps that saw several lead changes and plenty of side by side racing.   Officially Boles Led 15 Laps, but in the end Wolfgang was able to pass Boles for good on Lap 16.  It was the first Jackson Speedway victory for the younger Wolfgang.  Mark Toews dropped out on Lap 11 with what appeared to be electrical difficulties, thus ending his quest for the point Championship.

Jeffrey Larson came into the race with the points championship all but locked up, but this race was all about the elder Larson, Jeffrey's dad Jim and Brice Bodle of Wallingford, IA.  Jim Larson jumped out to the early lead, and led the first three laps, but Bodle looked like he was shot out of canon, as he charged to the lead on lap 4. Despite several cautions Larson had nothing for Bodle, and he was able to take home his first win of the Season, by leading the final 12 laps. Jeffrey Larson would finish fourth to secure the points title.  Jake Masters, who had an outside shot at the points title, had early problems and was not able to finish.

Mike Blomstrom led the first two circuits before the 18 of Russel Wiese was able to get around him on lap three.  This race saw a wild flip on lap one by Travis Lain of Des Moines.  See the photo below. He was able to walk away despite heavy damage to the 33 Sprint Car.  Bruce Andersons quest for a 3rd Jackson Speedway Championship ended early as a broken U joint rendered the 11a machine unable to start the A main.  This gave the point Championship to Frank Phipps who was able to take home a third place finish.

Several early cautions knocked a bunch of cars to the either the infield or the back of the pack, allowing the two Big Dogs of the Loosbrock Digging Service Hobby Stock Class to get to the front early in the race.  Of course we are talking about Dustin Larson and Dan Strandberg.  Strandberg led the 1st three laps but the youngest of the Larson clan, who was out of the points battle, had his sights set on win number 5.  The 3k of Dan Standberg, who wrapped up the point championship by taking the green flag, was also looking for win number five.  In the end Larson would take home the victory.  Justin Neahring of Storm Lake came home in 3rd makeing several nice passes thorough out the race.

Yellow Book Hornets (7 Cars)
A Feature (6 laps) – 1. Jeremy Wenzel, New Richland, MN, 2. 24. Jake Schroeder, Lakefield, MN, 3. 27 Craig Lappegard, Estherville, IA 4. 33 Megan Lappegard, Estherville, 5. 12 Gary Wobbrock, New Richland, MN

Heat 1 (4 Laps) 1. Craig Lappegard 2. Schroeder, 3. Wenzel, 4. Megan Lappegard, 5. Wobbrock

There was little doubt we were going to see a new winner in the Yellowbook Hornets, as none of the driver that signed in had yet visited victory lane.  Who would have thought that a first timer would take home the victory, but that is exactly what happend as Jeremy Wenzel from New Richland took home the win on his first race at Jackson Speedway.  Jake Schroeder challenged him throught the race, but had to settle for second place.  Nate Coopman had the point title wrapped up coming into the race.
