Boles, Bratrud, Schroeder, and Thate Win at Jackson
By: Tom Svoboda/Jackson Speedway

Jackson Minnesota (July 14, 2007) - It was another perfect night for racing this past Saturday night at Jackson Speedway for Bank Midwest, Golden Fenders, and Seasonal Spruce Ups all of Jackson night.  Picking up the nights feature races were Bill Boles, Harris IA, Q102 Sprints; Doug Bratrud, Jackson MN, Pizza Ranch Limited Sprints; Trent Schroeder, Worthington MN, Performance Center IMCA Stock Cars, and Dan Thate Fairmont MN, IMCA Hobby Stocks.

Three different drivers led in the 20-lap Q102 Sprint Car feature race.  At the start of the race pole sitter Russell Wiese, Lake Park IA, got upside down in turn two which collected several other cars.  Wiese was ok but done for the night.  The other drivers including Shawn Van Wyhe, Rock Rapids, IA, Jake Leighty, Worthington MN, and Casey Heser, Jackson MN, all came to the work area, but returned to the race.  On the complete restart it was Nick Lusk, Jackson MN, getting the early lead with Jordan Martens, Harrisburg SD, the second spot and Mark Toews, Spirit Lake IA, the third position.  On lap two Toews got by Martens for second with Bill Boles getting by Martens for third on lap three.  With Lusk up front, Toews would race in second and Boles third for the next several laps.  Just past the half way point in the race Toews would move up to challenge Lusk for the lead but could not pull off the pass.  On lap fourteen the caution came out when Jake Leighty blew a tire and stopped in turn two.  On the restart Toews would get by Lusk coming out of turn two and in turns three and four Lusk would lose second to Boles.  On lap sixteen Gordy Vogelaar, Worthington MN, would move into the third spot, putting Lusk back to fourth.  While working on lap nineteen Boles passed Toews for the lead coming out of turn two, and when the checkered flag flew it was Bill Boles picking up the win followed by Mark Toews, Gordy Vogelaar, Jody Rosenboom, Rock Rapids IA, and Nick Lusk.  Heat races were won by Nick Lusk and Shawn Van Wyhe.

The 15-lap Pizza Ranch Limited Sprint Car feature race went green-white-checkered.  At the start it was Doug Bratrud getting lead from his outside pole starting position.  Casey Friedrichsen, Arthur IA, would get the second spot with Shadrach Sporaa, Boone IA, the third position.  As the race went on Bratrud would continue to pull away from the field as Friedrichsen maintained second and Sporaa third.  As the race wound down Bratrud had built up a straightaway advantage over Friedrichsen, but Sporaa would challenge Friedrichsen for second late in the race.  When the checkered flag flew it was Doug Bratrud picking up the win.  Shadrach Sporaa got by Friedrichsen at the line for second.  Casey Friedrichsen had to settle for third with Bruce Anderson, Trimont MN, and Mike Blomstrom, Lakeville MN fourth and fifth.  Heat races went to Shadrach Sporaa and Casey Friedrichsen.

Two drivers led in the 15-lap Performance Center IMCA Stock Car feature race, and it was the second place finisher picking up the win.  At the start it was Gary Bannister, Lakefield MN, getting the lead with Trent Schroeder, Worthington MN, getting the second spot and Jake Masters, Graettinger IA, getting the third spot.  On lap two Jeff Senne, Fairmont MN, got by Masters for third.  On lap three the caution came out when Brice Bodle, Wallingford IA, and Stefan Sybesma, Sanborn IA, made contact in turn four.  On the restart Bannister kept the field behind him as Schroeder maintained second and Senne third.  At the halfway point in the race, Schroeder would make several attempts at the lead but Bannister would hold him off.  On lap ten the caution came out again when Tom Sierck, Spencer IA, stopped in turn two.  On the restart, Bannister kept the field behind, but on lap thirteen Schroeder would have the lead at the line by mere inches only to loss the lead in turns one and two to Bannister.  When the checkered flag flew it was Gary Bannister crossing the line first.  However Bannister was found to be too light at the scales and was disqualified.  That gave the win to second place finisher Trent Schroeder, and moved the finishing order up one spot.  Jeff Senne was second followed by Jake Masters, Justin Luinenberg, Reading MN, and Jim Larson, Rushmore MN.  Heat race winners were Jeffrey Larson, Rushmore MN and Trent Schroeder, Worthington MN.

Two different drivers led in the 12-lap IMCA Hobby Stock feature race.  At the start it was Chad Carlson, Ormsby MN, getting the early lead from his pole starting position.  Darryl Bortvit, Estherville IA, got the second spot with Brodie McKeown, Heron Lake MN, the third spot.  On lap two John Briggs, Calumet IA, moved from the fourth spot to second getting by Bortvit and McKeown.  On lap three the caution came out when Bortvit went off the track on the back straightaway.  One more lap would get put on the books when Dustin Larson, Rushmore MN, got a flat tire and spun off the track in turn two.  On the restart, Carlson was able to keep the field behind but on lap seven Dan Thate challenged Carlson for the lead, and on lap eight was able to get by Carlson for the lead in turns three and four.  On lap ten Briggs and Carlson would battle for the second spot, when the caution came out again for Larson who stopped on the back straightaway.  That set up a two lap dash, and it was Dan Thate holding off the field and taking the win.  John Briggs crossed the finish line in second, only to be disqualified when he was found to have an illegal motor in tech.  That moved the finishing order up one spot and gave second place to Chad Carlson who was followed by Cody Lucas, Cherokee IA, Dan Strandberg, and Brodie McKeown.  Heat races were won by Tim Wilcox, Ida Grove IA and Dan Thate.

This Saturday will be Ag-Co Employee night/Race Days Weekend in Jackson with races sponsored by Weseman Engineering and Forbes Meat and Liquor Locker of Spirit Lake IA.  All four classes of cars will be in action including the Q102 Sprints, Pizza Ranch Limited Sprints, Performance Center IMCA Stock Cars, and IMCA Hobby Stocks.  Hot laps will be at 7:00 p.m. with racing to follow.
