Boles, Yarns, Schwandt, and Barglof take Jackson Wins
By: Tom Svoboda/Jackson Speedway

Jackson Minnesota (June 16, 2007) - On an evening that saw rain and severe weather everywhere but Jackson, the nights program went off without a hitch.  The night’s races were sponsored by Heser Auto and Detailing of Jackson MN and John’s Equipment of Sheldon IA.  The feature races were won by Bill Boles, Harris IA, Q102 Sprints; Steve Yarns, Jackson MN, Pizza Ranch Limited Sprints, Matt Schwandt, Janesville MN, Performance Center IMCA Stock Cars, and Drew Barglof, Sioux Rapids IA, IMCA Hobby Stocks.

Three different drivers led in the 20-lap Q102 Sprint Car feature race.  An initial bad start rebunched the field for a complete restart, which went red after Jesse Drost, Rushmore MN, found the wall in turns three and four.  On the third restart of the event, it was Jake Leighty, Worthington MN just edging Nick Lusk, Jackson MN at the line to lead lap one.  As the field worked lap two Lusk would get by Leighty and take the lead.  Lusk would stay up front and begin to pull away from the field as Leighty raced in second followed by Bill Boles.  On lap six Boles would challenge Leighty for second and get by him on the back straightaway going into turn three.  As the race went on, Lusk, who had a sizeable lead, would slowly loose it as Boles continued to reel him in.  On the twelfth lap Boles caught Lusk and on the next lap made the move into the number one spot. Lusk would ride in second as Gordy Vogelaar, Worthington MN, raced in the third spot.  On lap fifteen Vogelaar would challenge Lusk for second and on lap sixteen he was able to make his move into second.  Bill Boles would lead the remaining laps and go on to pick up the feature race win.  He was followed by Gordy Vogelaar, Nick Lusk, Shawn Van Wyhe, Rock Rapids IA, and Jake Leighty.  Heat race wins went to Casey Heser, Jackson MN, and Nick Lusk.

Two different drivers led the 15-lap Pizza Ranch Limited sprint car feature race.  At the start it was Mike Blomstrom, Lakeville MN, getting the early lead from his outside row one starting spot.  Jake Nicosen, Ringsted IA, would get the second spot with Steve Yarns the third position.  As the race went on Blomstrom would open up a sizeable lead over second place running Nicosen and Yarns.  On lap five Yarns would make his move into the second spot getting by Nicosen coming out of turn two.  As the race continued under green Yarns was slowly working up for Blomstrom but it was unlikely he would have caught him if the race continued under green.  On lap ten the yellow came out when Nicosen got his car off the back straightaway, had the car sideways, practically falling off the back straightaway, but regained control of it and continued on.  That bunched the field up and on the restart Yarns was able to get by Blomstrom and take the lead.  Yarns led the remaining laps unchallenged and went on to take the win, and sweep the program.  Steve Yarns was followed by Mike Blomstrom, Nate Eakin, Milford IA, Bruce Anderson, Trimont MN, and Jeff Edgington, Sioux Falls SD.  Steve Yarns picked up the heat race win.

It was all Matt Schwandt in the 15-lap Performance Center IMCA Stock Car feature race.  At the start Schwandt got the early lead from his outside row one starting spot.  Jim Larson, Rushmore MN, got the second spot with Jesse Baer, Minnesota Lake MN, the third position.  The next lap saw Brice Bodle Wallingford IA, get the third spot from Baer.  On lap four Bodle would move into the second spot as Larson got sideways in turn four, falling back several spots in the field.  On lap five the red flag was thrown for a fire under Roger Verdoorn’s car.  On the restart Schwandt kept the field behind as Baer would move back into second putting Bodle back to third.  Lap nine saw Bodle move back into second and on the next lap Jim Larson would make a big charge back through the field and move back into second.  Larson’s ride in second didn’t long as Stefan Sybesma, Sanborn IA, came from the fifth spot, and got by Larson on lap eleven.  On lap thirteen the caution came out when Trent Schroeder spun his car in turn two.  On the restart, Sybesma challenged several times for the lead and when the checkered flag flew it was Matt Schwandt winning by a half a car length over Stefan Sybesma.  They were followed by Jim Larson, Brice Bodle, and Mike Jergens, Mallard IA. Heat race wins went to Jake Master, Graettinger IA, and Jim Larson.

Two different drivers led the 12-lap IMCA Hobby Stock feature race.  A bad first start led to a complete restart, which saw Drew Barglof get the lead.  Dustin Larson, Rushmore MN, would get the second spot with Darryl Bortvit the third position.  On lap two Dan Thate, Fairmont MN, moved into the third spot getting by Bortvit.  The leaders raced in this order through lap four when the caution came out for Nate Darnell, Fairmont MN who spun in turn two.  On the restart Barglof maintained the lead as Larson raced in second and Dan Strandberg, Worthington MN, the third spot.  On lap seven Larson and Strandberg got by Barglof and took over the number one and two spot.  On lap ten Strandberg would pass Larson in turn four, but Larson would make contact with Strandberg spinning him out, which brought out the caution flag.  Because of his actions, Larson was put in the pits and because Strandberg stopped he was sent to the rear.  That handed the lead back to Drew Barglof.  Barglof would lead the remaining two laps and go on to take the win.  He was followed by Tim Wilcox, Ida Grove IA, Dan Thate, Adam Ecker, Comfrey MN, and John Briggs, Calumet IA.  Heat races went to Dustin Larson and Dan Strandberg.
